This introductory text provides the necessary knowledge and understanding required to achieve Levels 3 & 4 in N/SVQ Purchasing. The author, Andrew Erridge, carried out the research on which the N/SVQ competences were based. The book also meets the requirements of the the revised Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) syllabus and is endorsed both by CIPS and the Purchasing and Supply Lead Body. The book provides theory and knowledge to underpin the competences required for N/SVQs in Purchasing. It combines theory and practical cases, and is therefore relevant for a wide range of traditional university and college courses in Purchasing and Supply as well as those run by CIPS. The primary purpose of this book is to provide the essential knowledge and understanding for candidates undertaking assessment against the Purchasing Standards developed by the Purchasing and Supply Lead Body (PSLB). These standards form the basis for N/SVQs in Purchasing at Levels 2, 3, and 4 of the NCVQ framework. The book provides a logical framework and practical guide to managing purchasing through the analysis of sourcing, contracting and purchasing effectiveness.
It should be useful to students on CIPS, BTEC and degree course at colleges and universities, as well for in-house staff development programmes based on the Purchasing Competences.
