Yet her mother had never made it at that level, Evelyn thought, and had been trying to make up for it ever since.
This quote pretty much sums up the basic plot of this book. Her whole life, Evelyn's mother had been grooming her to occupy her place in "high society", and after being named director of membership for an exclusive social networking site, she begins to buy into her mother's dream. This rise to the top is marked with deceit and betrayal, and as Evelyn rises, she loses herself.
I was entertained by this book, and found it similar to other books which were set in that same social strata. The transformation of Evelyn is broken into three parts - the rise, the fall, and after the fall. I dreaded so many of the choices she made, but was pained when it all imploded. The ending was going in the right direction, I just wish I knew a little bit more about how it all played out.
