Micro controller-managed serial buses are used extensively in domestic electronic products and in products designed for industrial automation applications. Since its introduction by Philips in the early 1980s, the I2C bus standard continues to be used in the design of electronic equipment and its application is being extended into areas served by other serial buses. The text examines typical industrial and consumer applications and should enable the reader to design effectively in a real-world environment.
