Loved it

I adored the book. yes,there were points where I did 't like what the characters were doing, but this wasn't going to be an easy lo e story (which I knew going in).

Maybe Someday is my first experience with Colleen Hoover books. What an experience it was!

I love books about music or that include music, and that’s why I picked this book (even if the blurb was vague at best). However, Maybe Someday is about much more than music. (To find more about the music go here). It’s about love (obviously), friendship, betrayal and unfortunately, quite a bit of cheating. Let me just say right now that I usually don’t like books about cheating, and I certainly don’t condone it, BUT this book is not what you might think. I hate to spoil any of it for you, but trust me when I say that you want to read it!

Sidney is having an incredible bad birthday. He discovers that her “best friend”/roommate Tori and Hunter, her boyfriend of two years, are cheating on her. It is quite a blow and she reacts like any girl with common sense would: by punching her “friend” and packing up her bags. Bravo! Sidney is a lot stronger than she herself thinks she is. Except that she has no place to go. Here comes a knight in shining armor in the form of Ridge, a friendly neighbor. Anyway, I LOVE Ridge. Well, I guess I loved Ridge and Sidney together, but Ridge has a serious girlfriends. Now, let me just say that these two characters fight their attraction to each other very hard. However, the heart can’t be reasoned with.

The other two people living in Ridge’s apartment are Warren and Bridgette. I love Warren! He is very loyal to Ridge, but also learns to love and care for Sidney and helps her out when she needs it the most. He is so funny (and kind of a perv), but it’s okay since he is in love with Bridgette anyway. I also liked Ridge’s girlfriend, Maggie is such an amazing, gentle and caring person. I love these characters! How they are flawed, imperfect, real, and redeemable.

One of the things that I loved the most about Maybe Someday was Hoover’s writing. It is poignant, lyrical, and realistic. The story plot is fairly simple and the story is easy to read, even if it’s quite intense and heartbreaking at times.

Overall, I’m so happy I read Maybe Someday. Colleen Hoover’s writing is certainly addictive since I now started listening to Hopeless and I fully expect to love it too :)

About the Narration: It was pure awesomeness! I can’t find any other words that will fit. I listened to Breakable by Tammara Webber narrated by Zachary Webber and I feel in love with his voice. Needless to say, I love him even more after this book. It is my first book narrated by Angela Goenthals, and she is so talented! There couldn’t be a better pair of actors to read this amazing book :) If you want to read Maybe Someday, try it in audio! It is one of the best audio books I’ve had the pleasure of listening to.

- This book had me swallowing lumps in my throat, and then I was also laughing out loud at 3 AM. I started this book around 9pm on Saturday, read into the night and finally fell asleep at 4:30. Then woke back up on Sunday, finished it at 9:30pm! I just couldn't put it down. It was a wonderful mix of story and song, and the heartbreak that ensued just had my eyes watering constantly. BIG BABY STATUS.

Colleen Hoover is an incredible author, she creates what is seemingly two realistic characters and builds a world around them the challenges and empowers, and Maybe Someday may just be Colleen Hoover at her very best. My issue is the fine line of being unfaithful that Ridge treads, in my opinion he definitely crossed that line. Cheating on a partner is more than just being physically involved with another person, it's the emotional bond formed with another person, but found it strange that several characters defined that line as being sexual. Maybe Someday is an experience that left me emotional and incredibly torn. But I applaud an author who isn't afraid of confronting issues and Colleen Hoover always handles the sensitive situations with an incredible amount of care. Unlike the majority of New Adult novels being released, her focus is foremost the storyline, and she skims over any sexual content. Take note authors, this is how you capture the more mature young adult audience, not by creating Erotica masquerading as New Adult.

Maybe Someday focuses on Sydney and Ridge, told in dual points of view. Sydney has just left her boyfriend of two years, after neighbour Ridge tells her that he's been cheating with her roommate. I loved that Sydney left without looking back, and although heartbroken and homeless, she never entertained the thought of taking him back. Although Ridge is in a long term relationship, Sydney begins to fall for him before finding out about Maggie, an omission that Ridge genuinely forgot to share. He only sees Maggie every few weeks and was instantly taken with Sydney, that he had just assumed she knew. In exchange for the free room, all Ridge asks that Sydney help with his songwriting slump, creating words to his compositions. This is where the Maybe Someday soundtrack is introduced.

Colleen Hoover has engaged the talented artist Griffin Peterson, and together they've created the ultimate reader interactive experience. As the two main characters compose, Griffin adds his voice to Maybe Someday's soundtrack, and he's absolutely brilliant. This one is a must have for Colleen Hoover fans and New Adult authors take note, this is what is it to create a well loved storyline that will no doubt outlast any of the crap you're producing.

Since I really enjoyed reading Maybe Someday, I also pre-ordered the audio. So far, it's AWESOME! One male and one female narrator - yup - loving it.

Beautifully narrated, they are both very good at conveying the characters' emotions, and I enjoyed the audio more than I enjoyed the actual book.

No words...seriously. This book was so unexpected. I bought it this morning and thought I'd just take a peek before going to work. Low and behold 6 hours later I was done. This was a perfect reason to call in sick just saying you all. Just wow! My sister who deals with what Ridge deals with will definitely love this story. The depiction of what Ridge goes through is spot on and I am so glad that it played a positive role in this beautiful story.
