This is perfect timing for our family as my five and three year olds are bursting with creativity that doesn't always mesh well. And the addition of a new little brother. Like when I took out a craft I did when I was five to show to my daughter and came back to see my perfectly colored Santa now had a green mustache and cheeks. *sigh*
After reading this story we were able to talk about why her embellishment made me both sad and happy. When we finished the story my daughter looked at her baby brother and said "when he's older he better not do that to my pictures".
What I love about this book is that it is told by pictures and a little conversation between the siblings. While my three year old was just excited about the book in general, waiting and watching my five year old as her eyes widen when she caught on to what little brother Art was doing to Louise's art was a great moment. This is a book to make little minds engaged and thoughtful.
Thanks to HC.
