Across Europe, the popularity of far-right, populist and even openly fascist parties has, for some time, been on the rise. Multi-media propaganda campaigns coupled with key geo-political events, such as 9/11 and the 'war on terror' work to legitimise right-wing parties. This book uses comparative critical discourse analysis to look at fascist propaganda, asking why right-wing parties are gaining popularity, what the parties stand for, and how they communicate. Particular emphasis is on the British National Party, though this is situated within the context of political developments in Eastern and Western Europe - showing differences and continuities between fascist parties. At a time when right-wing groups are an increasingly present part of political systems across Europe, this is a scholarly, timely and much needed study of fascism today.
