This 1999 edition contains the proceedings of the 16th session of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR), which took place 17-19 February 1999 in Geneva. The main item on the agenda was a guideline for professional qualifications. The acceptance and implementation of such a guideline could enable professional accountants to function in the global economy, promote the harmonization of professional qualification requirements and increase transborder trade in accountancy services. The Review also includes a discussion of various systems to assess compliance with the guidelines.
