The second of three books designed to meet the syllabus requirements of Parts I and II of the City and Guilds 236 course in Electrical Installation Work, volumes I and II covering Part 1 of the course, and volume III covering Part 2. Each book deals with craft theory, associated subjects, and a study of the electrical industries. The craft theory and associated subjects are treated, not as separate entities, but as a whole, encouraging the student to understand not just how but why electrical installations are designed and carried out in particular ways. Wherever possible, calculations and examples have been devised to have values and wording appropriate to the work of the craft student, and the content of the volumes is comprehensive enough to relieve the student and staff of laborious note-taking. The object here is to encourage discussion and leave more time for demonstrations, individual investigation of the subject matter and classwork.
