Sunbeam-Talbot was a marque created by the Rootes brothers in 1938, following their acquisition of the British arm of Sunbeam-Talbot-Darracq. The cars were derived from contemporary Hillmans and Humbers with a more glamorous and sporting flavor. The post-war cars in particular had great success in rallying with great names like Stirling Moss and Sheil van Damm among the drivers for what was effectively the first-ever works rally team. The latest addition to the "In Detail" series covers all the models from the 1938 Ten to the Sunbeam Alpine of the mid-1950s. It features The Rootes Group in the 1930s; The Talbot 10; Sunbeam-Talbot 10 & 2 Litre; The 3 & 4 Litre; The 80 and 90; 90 MkII, MkIIA and Sunbeam MkIII; The Alpine; and, the Competition Story. This is the first book on a family of cars now emerging as true post-war classics. Specially commissioned color photography, in detail, of eight outstanding examples including Stirling Moss' Alpine Rally-winning car. The author is a renowned British motor industry archivist with a deserved reputation for unstinting thoroughness and accuracy.
