The book for grade 10 has five units: two on S Africa -on land and labour 1840 to 1880, and on diamonds and conquest 1867-1880, followed by a unit on Africa and the slave trade, on the industrial revolution in Britain and then a final unit on the French revolution and Bonaparte. Grade 11, has an introduction looking at the 19th century as a whole with further units in the far East, the USA, Russia, S Africa 1886-1924, and the partition of Africa. Grade 12 looks at the 20th century with units on the USA, Russia, fascism and WW2, the Cold War, de-colonisation in Africa, South Africa from 1924-48, and South Africa 1948-1998. Well illustrated with many maps and illustrations, notes on sources and their use, 'How to' boxes, builds skills (essay writing, analytical thinking, class debates).
