Part of a series intended to analyze the decision by the American government to intern Japanese Americans in concentration camps during World War II, this volume comprises interviews with the administrators who were responsible for this incarceration. Recorded within the study are the experiences of two men who served as the second-ranking officials at the Army-operated alien internment centre in Lordsburg, New Mexico and the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)-managed centre for aliens in Santa Fe. The work also includes the specific problems confronted by the only woman to head an alien internment facility, the INS compound in Seagoville, Texas. The activities of the religious minded administrator of the War Relocation Authority who became director of the Leupp Isolation Centre in Northern California are recorded as well as the work of his Quaker associate at Tule Lake. The latter supervized the co-operative stores both there and at the Granada War Relocation Centre in Colorado and who also served the War Relocation Authority's associate superintendant of co-operative enterprises.
