A young woman is turned into a vampire against her will by a maker that constantly haunts her throughout the entire story. She initially struggles against her very being, refusing to take a human life, but she meets a fellow vampire who shows her how to deal with the curse and ultimately how fun being a vampire can really be. She falls into a deep depression after awhile and goes out on her own to contemplate her existance and the life she's been condemned to. She finds a place in her horror of a world where she doesn't have to kill humans and can sustain herself. In the end, she finds true love in a human and the maker is silenced once and for all.
