The "Architects' Data Sheets" are intended to build up into a complete library of essential planning data for architects and designers. Each volume focuses on one particular building type and, with the aid of dimensional drawings, shows in detail the spatial information needed to create workable designs for every feature of a building of that kind. All the technical data, plans and dimensional drawings can be used and re-used as straightforward aides-memoire, or alternatively can be converted to CAD and CD-ROM, since the purchasers of the book also acquire the rights of electronic storage, retrieval and adaptation for use in their own work. This text covers all kinds of indoor sports spaces, in the context of both leisure centres and facilities for offices and housing developments. All of the commonly found sports activities are covered in a series of graphic sheets including weight training, swimming, squash, basketball, ice skating and gymnastics plus many others. It gives guidance on equipment and competition areas and includes examples of small, medium and large indoor halls and of the differing arrangements for activities within these.
The volume also contains information on general health and fitness activities, ranging from sauna types through to weight training. The final section of the book deals with general environmental requirements and design considerations. The work is designed for architects, designers and facility managers and space planners. The authors are founding partners of the London-based architecture and interior design practice Crane-Dixon.
