Sheila Wood was born in 1927 in the City of Sheffield where she spent her childhood at the heart of a happy family. The outbreak of the war saw her entering the City Grammar School and enjoying life as a teenager on the home front, in spite of the hazzards including the Sheffield Blitz. It was then that her fervent English patriotism and deep Christian faith formed the cornerstones of her life. During service in the ATS she met her future husband and her new family life moved at a pace. The birth of her three sons in Nottingham, Lincoln and Boston paved the way for her adoption of East Anglia as home. Career changes brought Sheila into the nursing profession and her husband into the Anglican priesthood. Huntingdonshire, Fenland villages, Ely and finally St. Ives embrace so much to remember in her 83rd. year.
