England. June 1940. Four inept criminals are arrested by British Military Intelligence (MI6) after a payroll robbery in Liverpool goes wrong. They are given a stark choice. Either they go into occupied France and retrieve the contents of a safe in Paris, or they serve thirty years for armed robbery. It is no choice at all and they reluctantly agree to work for MI6. Led by their French contact, Henri, they fight their way from the beach at Calais to the suburbs of Paris. Arriving in the French capital, they use their less than perfect skills to break into a large Parisian house and reach their target. What they find in the safe alters the course of history and brings into sharp focus the treacherous actions of a group of British MP's and certain members of the British royal family. This is the story of four career criminals who, for the first time in their lives, are forced to face up to their responsibilities and deal with emotions and situations that are alien to them.
