This is a guide to the new Windows version of the CDS/ISIS information retrieval software package, developed by UNESCO General Information Programme. Published in 1994, the first edition of the "CDS/ISIS Handbook" has now been completely revised with extensive additions to accomodate the very different user interface of Windows. The book provides an introduction and offers support not supplied by the brief accompanying documentation supplied with the software. The second edition includes: an overview of MS-DOS and Windows; introduction to the Windows environment; software installation; creating a database; the formatting language; data entry, search and retrieval; sorting and printing; exporting, importing and backing-up; and an introduction to PASCAL programming facility. The guide should be of use to all librarian and information specialist users, including those who teach CDS/ISIS and advise on systems. It should also be valuable to organizations wishing to evaluate the package for use when recommending software.
