The village of San Fior in north-eastern Italy and the city of Perth, Western Australia, provide a case study for an investigation of return visits in the immigration process. This title explores the relationship between identity and place by examining the phonomenon of return visits to the home country made by first and second generation Australian immigrants. It theorizes the "home" and "host" countries as part of the same social field. A strong oral history component brings the story alive and offers rich empirical data.
