The majority of the leading Italian artists who have practised in the medium and most of the identified founders are represented, together with examples from all the principal known Italian centres of bronze founding. Catalogue entries contain details of inscriptions and makers' marks and also substantial technical information, including data based on x-ray examination and metal analysis. Introductory sections give a brief history of the subject, and feature illustrations and line drawings showing historical methods and techniques.
