Microsoft Expression is a new product due for release in January 2007. It is a design suite similar to those currently offered by Macromedia, and a new business venture for Microsoft. It is being eagerly anticipated in many areas of the design and development community, and is likely to have a large impact on the way Microsoft applications, and particularly Microsoft Web Applications, are put together. The book provides a ground-up introduction to the new technology, explaining the philosophy behind it, its workflow and how it integrates with existing Microsoft tool suites, like Visual Studio. This done, it moves on to show how the suite can be used to help designers and developers collaborate in the production of modern web applications. Being Microsoft based, it can for example facilitate in the creation of Atlas (Microsoft s version of Ajax) web applications, or ease the production of user interfaces for desktop applications. The book takes away the intimidation of joining a cutting-edge software production team for the first time, and provides the basic skills that all designers and developers are going to need for future web development."
