Aislynn is accustomed to watching for the enemy. The main girl was pretty naive which was annoying. But she wasn't dumb so it wasn't that bad. I liked the opening scenes that kind of set everything in motion. Even though the "big reveal" wasn't shocking in the least (see my earlier comment that she's pretty naive). The story moved through a lot of plot which was good but there was also a lot of exposition that weighed it down. Though, there's also a lot of internal monologue and that didn't drive me crazy, which is rare.
The thing I liked most was the "love triangle" because it really wasn't a triangle. It was like this girl fell hard for this guy and it didn't work out and then she moved on with her life and it was refreshing. Except then he couldn't let go of her and it ended up working out fairly well for the plot. I didn't understand why she came back around to him - their relationship and attraction didn't seem that solid to me. So, it sort of undercut itself in the end. But for a while there it was really nice. And the guy she moved onto was considerate and thoughtful and fun - he was a good guy.
I think I would have liked this story a lot more if it was a little tighter. And not quite so predictable. But the characters were likable enough and the story evolved fairly well so it was a decent read.
