This study confronts the issues of terrorism, war, hunger and human rights, and seeks avenues of response. It is particularly sensitive to differences between international and personal ethics, as well as the constraints imposed by real situations. Separate chapters examine violence in international affairs, the limitations of national sovereignty and the moral significance of national borders. The text concludes by addressing factors which undermine moral sensitivity, suggests how they can be overcome and whether a more robust ethic can be expected in the future. Gerard Elfstrom has also co-written "Military Ethics" with N.Fotion.
