Some of the country studies provide excellent material. Those of Quah on Singapore, Richter on the Phillippines and Khan and Zafarullah on Bangladesh stand out as serious attempts to provide comparative material within the guidelines. All the studies are of interest to the researcher of bureaucratic practice and ably written by writers with a deep knowledge of the country concerned.
