Edward Langus was an ill-content vagrant. He hated his soul, longed for death, and mocked those who claimed life had a purpose. Confused, resentful, he wandered through a country torn with war, killing innocent people where it was convenient. Dying would have been a relief for him, but because of his violent, merciless life, Edward was eternally cursed to wander the earth redeeming hopeless souls as an immortal entity. Stripped of his freedom and identity, with his soul a slave to other souls for as long as the humanity existed, Edward became a wanderer with no home. Because of his brutal life and hard opinions, Edward finds learning what makes life worth living is personally painful. There are lessons he overlooked that innocent children teach him without meaning to. Edward longs to feel their hope, but still feels, as evil seeks him out to exploit his special gift, that he must have deserved punishment all along regardless of his new understanding of life.
