Katherine Nguyen Williams, Ph.D. is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and Director of Strategic Development and Clinical Innovations at Rady Children's Hospital - San Diego, Department of Outpatient Psychiatry (RCHOP). She is a licensed child and adolescent psychologist specializing in assessment and evidence-based treatments for child and adolescent mental disorders. She is the training director for the RCHOP child rotation for the APA-accredited UCSD/VA Internship and SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program practicum training programs. She earned her Ph.D. at Loma Linda University, completed her residency in clinical child psychology at the University of California, San Diego, and obtained her post-doctoral fellowship at the Child and Adolescent Services Research Center. Dr. Nguyen Williams founded the Center for Child and Adolescent Testing and a pediatric anxiety/OCD program and autism assessment center serving children from low-income and diverse backgrounds. In addition to providing clinical supervision to psychology doctoral students, she maintains an active clinical practice as a bilingual/bicultural clinician for children, adolescents and families. Dr. Nguyen Williams is a faculty recipient of the Champion of Diversity Award and cotrainer for the Unconscious Bias training team at UCSD. She is the author of the Psychology Today column The Modern Child" and podcast host of Ask Dr. Kat. She is also featured in You Know the Drill, an award-winning documentary short film selected for the PBS Short Film Festival about the role of active school shooter drills in pediatric anxiety and trauma. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and is the primary coauthor of the cognitive-behavioral treatment manual, MODULAR CBT for CHILDREN and ADOLESCENTS with DEPRESSION: A CLINICIAN'S GUIDE to INDIVIDUALIZED Treatment."
