Abbey Pachter's writing is most often based on personal experiences, inspired by nature, and informed by science. Born in Chicago, Pachter spent her childhood enjoying nature in the Indiana Dunes beside Lake Michigan. She graduated from Michigan's Interlochen Center for the Arts and earned degrees in professional nursing from the University of Michigan (BSN, MSN) and the University of Pennsylvania (PhD, 1989). Her career has included clinical practice in nursing and midwifery, project management in healthcare informatics, faculty and administrative appointments at several universities, and membership on many Boards of Directors. She has traveled internationally, most recently to Mexico where she witnessed monarch butterflies in their winter roosts in the high oyamel forests. She is the mother of two "amazing daughters and wonderful sons-in-law," "Gramma" to four grandkids she adores, and lives in Virginia Beach, VA.
