Author or Artist?
Why not both?
I've been an Author for only a short time, even though I've been developing a theme of books for over 15 years. Now, having more time, I'm filling it with writing. My mind races with all the other titles in the series. It's called the Fairy Grandmother Series. Children have always been a great joy to me, and I love creating wonderful things for them. This book, "Maisie and the Sand Dragon", is an adventure story of fairy magic, dragons, mermaids and fairies.
There are seven more main books and a number of related books to come. I will have personalized short story books, colouring books, activity books, board games, dolls, and stuffed creatures, like Grumbles the Sand Dragon.
I've been an Artist most of my life. I really fine-tuned my abilities as a face painter for 30 years. Creating detail on a moving target can really improve your game. I also have a University of Alberta certificate for Residential Design and have worked as a decorator for over 15 years. Having said that, my Artist skills really came to fruition when I started Acrylic liquid pour painting. I love how the mixing of the paint colours in pour paintings makes for a delectable backdrop for embellishing most of my paintings. I let them talk to me and tell me what they are. Each painting is unique and thoughtfully put together. Even the frame colours are chosen to complement the painting and finish the design, bringing it all together.
