From the time she was in grade school, S. M. Cabell knew she wanted to be a teacher. She attended Oregon State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education with a minor in science. The majority of her teaching career was spent working with children with dyslexia. Since her retirement, she enjoys traveling, photography, and relaxing at the beach. Ms. Cabell married her high school sweetheart, and they live in the Seattle area.
