Jyotirmayee Mohapatra has the pleasure of serving as a Reader and HOD of the Department of English in Kendrapara Autonomous College, Kendrapara, Birupa College Indupur and Tulasi Women's College, Kendrapara. She has been a popular teacher and was the Editor of Kendrapara Autonomous College magazine, "The Balaya" for some years.She is a permanent resident of Madhapur in Kendrapara town. Late Nagendra Nath Mohapatra and Santilata Mohapatra of Ranitola village are her revered parents. She is the daughter-in-law of respected Late Jagannath Panda and Urvashi Devi of Balarampur village in Kendrapara.Her first poem in Odia was published in her school magazine when she was a student of class IX in Odisha Police High School, Cuttack.From that day she has been writing Odia short stories and critical essays and poems in English.
