Born in Minnesota, USA, Sara ended up growing up in Lebanon where she attended both school and university. After graduating from high school, she followed her nutrition passion and completed her undergraduate studies in Nutrition and Dietetics at the American University of Beirut (AUB), receiving her dietetics and nutrition license afterwards. She then continued on to pursue her graduate studies in Nutrition and Dietetics at the AUB, after which she was recruited as a nutrition research assistant. During her four years of work at the AUB, Sara's research revolved around several projects, including: coordinating a national study that investigated the nutritional status and dietary intake of the Lebanese population, contributing to the development of food-based dietary guidelines for the Lebanese people, and developing/disseminating a nutrition education manual for pregnant women and mothers of young children. In 2014, Sara moved back to the USA and settled in Minnesota with her husband. Since then, she has turned to becoming a proud stay-at-home mom of two daughters. Still a nutritionist at heart, she has done some freelance nutritional counselling over the years, while focusing her remaining free time on the research, write-up, and photography of this book.
