S. James McLaughlin is a North Central West Virginia native who grew up an avid reader of fiction and true-crime genres. McLaughlin is a producer on the podcast Appalachian Mysteria which dives into complex, unresolved true-crime stories in past and present Appalachia. Season one covers the WVU Coed Murders, which is the subject of her first book.
