Irene Wellman is a poet, author, and retired reading specialist. She was born in England, the daughter of cultural anthropologists, Victor and Edith Turner, and moved with her family to the United States when she was 15 years old. She has lived in New York State, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Virginia, and now resides in Michigan. She was an associate editor of O.ARS, a poetry journal in the 1980s. She has given many poetry readings and been published in poetry journals, such as Rattle, Artemis, and Streetlight. Her poems have been awarded prizes in the annual poetry contest of The Poetry Society of Virginia. She was a finalist for a submitted chapbook, In the Space of Time, in the Comstock Review Group Chapbook Contest, 2018.
