Aviation pioneer and author Mary Bush Shipko is an ISA+21 charter member and was one of the first woman airline pilots in the country. Earning her Airline Transport Pilot Rating at twenty-four in 1974 she was hired by Hughes Air West in 1976. Mary learned to fly from her Dad in South Florida. She gained experience as a "freight dog" flying the Caribbean in DC-6/7, Constellation, DC-3 and C-46 transports delivering freight. She is often in the authors corner at conferences selling her popular memoir Aviatrix. She is also co-editor of Women Who Fly, a book she was inspired to compile to honor ISA+21 40th anniversary. Today she speaks around the country encouraging young women to become airline pilots themselves. She is a member of SCBWI and CBW. She holds a MSW from UGA in GA.
