John Bacon grew up along the shores of Lake Champlain in the Adirondacks of northern New York. At age seventeen he began to dream of becoming a writer. He started his college education at the University of New York in Albany and finished at Adrian College in southern Michigan. After graduate school at Wayne State University in Detroit, John taught English in Farmington, Michigan for 33 years. He started his writing career when he retired. He has three children and six grandchildren. John resides in Florida.
