Emma Dowuona-Hammond is British of Ghanaian and Finnish heritage. This venture forms part of her ongoing research to better understand the impact African culture has had on Western society. After the birth of her daughter, she was inspired to find an educational yet fun way to teach children about world cultures and music using the English language, resulting in this series of ABC books. She has worked as a translator, English teacher, writer and copywriter, and currently runs the We Be Spirits project, a project that looks at music and art across the African Diaspora through a compilation of interviews, reviews and articles. Emma currently lives in Barcelona, Spain with her daughter.
