Todd Lockwood is an American illustrator and author whose creations can be found everywhere. His influence is prominent in the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, especially in the appearance of the titular great winged beasts. His art has appeared in New York Times Bestselling novels, magazines, video games, collectible card games, and fantasy role-playing games. His art has also been honored with multiple appearances in Spectrum and the Communication Arts Illustration Annual, along with numerous industry awards. Always known for the narrative power of his paintings, Todd's debut novel, The Summer Dragon, was released by DAW Books to rave reviews in 2016, and was shortlisted by both Barnes & Noble and Amazon for the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Novels of the Year. In 2023, he released a 352-page collection of his art, Found Worlds, spanning forty-plus years of work. Throughout his long career, The Twelve Days of Christmas simmered in the background. This book began as a whimsical love letter to his children thirty-three years ago and proved to be a touchstone that he returned to again and again when the "day jobs" got stuck or finished. Todd lives with his wife, Rita, three children, and a grandchild, in the embrace of the giant trees and enormous mountains of Washington state.
