Donald W. Hyndman is a Professor Emeritus of the University of Montana (UM) in Missoula. He earned a BA in Geological Engineering at the University of British Columbia and a PhD in Geology at the University of California, Berkeley. Recognized as a Distinguished Teacher and Distinguished Scholar by UM, he is also a Fellow of the Geological Society of America and the American Geophysical Union. Don also wrote widely adopted university textbooks on igneous and metamorphic rocks and more recently, with his son, five editions of "Natural Hazards and Disasters."
