The Presidential Prayer Team was founded in Scottsdale on September 18, 2001. The nonprofit, nonpartisan organization receives no funding from the White House, but its efforts are welcomed by President Bush, who has repeatedly relayed how thankful he is for this team of people praying for him. Operated mostly by the Internet, the effort continues to grow toward its 2.8 million member goal. In a short time and with no advertising, the effort has become a household name across the country.
