Professor Girol Karacaoglu is the Head of the School of Government at Victoria University of Wellington. He arrived at Victoria University of Wellington from the New Zealand Treasury, where he was Chief Economist. Before this, he was Chief Executive of the Cooperative Bank of New Zealand for nine years. His academic fields of specialisation are in public policy, monetary and financial economics, international finance, econometrics, corporate accounting, and finance.
