D. Edward Williams is a long-time Houston resident, who has spent many a weekend raising his family on Pirate's Beach in Galveston, TX. Watching his son play in the surf with friends and relatives - summer after summer - has given Mr. Williams a deeper insight into a generation that is growing up amidst today's difficult challenges: bullying, isolation, and natural disasters (including hurricanes.) These experiences highlighted for him, the strength and resilience of all people, including today's youth.
Mr. Williams, a University of Pennsylvania graduate, has spent a lifetime reading works of fiction and fantasy, the enjoyment of which has inspired him to bring the denizens of Pirates Beach to life - while also integrating the history and legends of Galveston Island into a work of youth fiction, in new innovative ways.
