John worked for Stockport Libraries before a degree in Librarianship and has held a variety of posts within Gateshead Council since he moved to the North East in 1978. He moved to Ryton in 1999 and for many years was the Librarian for Ryton and Crawcrook Libraries, a posting which at the time included being Secretary of Ryton’s Local History Society. He currently manages the Reference and Local Studies sections of the Central Library in Gateshead.
