Chris Maden stumbled into Hong Kong ten years to the day before its reversion to China, and fell in love with the city. He has spent his adult life in the town, contributes to the Hong Kong Free Press and Hong Kong Review of Books, and was chair of the local writers' circle as Price's Price, his first novel, went to press. When not writing, he mentors start-ups (which is a polite way of saying that he tries to stop them making the many mistakes he made), or hikes, sails or goes on long lunches. He is happily married to a woman he loves, and who puts up with his nonsense - which is never in short supply.
