NM Jarrell is a former teacher, musician, artist and animal lover who lives with her husband in the Pacific Northwest. At a very young age, she was encouraged ("commanded" might be the better word) by her busy mother to amuse her younger siblings by telling them stories. But this tale came to the author via her paternal grandfather, whose father also filled him with stories about "the gal kidnapped by the Indians," Nancy Flynn.
