Prof. Rupinder Tewari is Dean (Faculty of Science), Panjab University, Chandigarh. He is a hard core microbiologist with over thirty years of teaching and research experience. He did his B.Sc (Hons. School) and M.Sc (Hons. School) and Ph.D. in the field of Microbiology from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He did another Ph.D. (Microbiology) from University of London, London, England and spent many years in USA as Post Doctoral Fellow. Prof. Tewari is a recipient of 'The Rockefeller Biotechnology Fellowship' and 'Commonwealth Academic Staff Scholarship' from USA and U.K. respectively. He has been Chairman, Dept. of Biotechnology at PU, Chd. Chandigarh. In 2008, he established Centre for Microbial Biotechnology at PU, Chd. and is currently heading this Centre. He was instrumental in starting MBA (Biotechnology) at PU, Chd. Prof. Tewari has been funded by various government agencies like DBT, DST, DRDO, UGC and has numerous publications in national / international journals in the areas of microbial enzymes, novel drug targets and biofertlizers. He has also published three books in the fields of Microbiology and Biotechnology. He has been on the editorial board of 'Indian Journal of Microbiology' and a member, Board of Studies of various universities. He also founded, 'Biotech. Policy of Chandigarh'. He has been nominated by DBT, GoI, New Delhi as 'Member Expert' of Institutional Biosafety Committee for CSIR and DBT research institutes.
