Eamon Gilmore has been the EU Special Representative for Human Rights since 2019. He was leader of the Labour Party from 2007 to 2014 and TD for Dun Laoghaire from 1989 to 2016; he served as Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs in the coalition government formed in 2011. Gilmore was born in Caltra, Co Galway and studied Psychology in University College Galway. He is married with three children.
