Dr. K.K. Bhutani is the Director of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, India. Dr. Bhutani obtained his Ph.D. in 1977 in Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Punjab University. He started his career in 1977 as Lecturer cum Senior Technical Officer from Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Punjab University, Chandigarh. From 1978-1980, he worked as Manager (Research and Development) in an anti-tubercular drug manufacturing pharmaceutical company. Dr. Bhutani joined CSIR Regional Research Laboratory (Jammu) in 1980 and worked there till 1994 as Senior Scientist and Assistant Director, respectively. Since 1994, he is associated with NIPER and has held various key positions there. Dr. K. K. Bhutani has been project coordinator/principal investigator for more than two dozens major projects sponsored by national and international agencies, and big pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Bhutani has 127 research papers, 100 monographs, 19 patents, 14 review articles, and 8 books to his credit. Dr. Bhutani has been awarded visiting scientist fellowship to United States for the year 1991-92, and was profiled by Marquis "Who is who in the world" 1999 edition. He is also key member of several national and international expert groups on Medicinal Chemistry, Natural Products, Ayurvedic Pharmacopeia, Indian Pharmacopeia and Pharmaceuticals.
