Patrick J. Harrigan received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan, spent a year at Princeton University as a post-doctoral fellow, and now teaches in the History Department at the University of Waterloo. He is the author of Lyceens et collegiens and, jointly with Donald Baker, The Making of Frenchmen, as well as of articles on Roman Catholic education and social mobility in France.
