Growing up in an Italian family, for Fabian Capomolla, Sunday lunch would always consist of loud arguments, pasta, veggies from the garden, and would finish with an espresso and a selection of ripe fruit from the backyard orchard.
Starting off in advertising before taking the leap to fulfil his dream of helping people grow food, Fabian Capomolla co-founded Little Veggie Patch Co.: a start-up operating out of his shed in Moorabbin that grew to be a Nursery in St Kilda East and a garden club called 'Pop Up Patch' in Federation Square.
He is the author, with Mat Pember, of The Little Veggie Patch Co. (2011), The Little Veggie Patch Co.'s Guide to Backyard Farming (2012) and 1-Minute Gardener (2014).
In 2014, Fabian moved his family - wife Beck and kids Jack and Olive - to a small Italian town to reconnect with his roots. During the 12 months he spent in Italy, Fabian worked in a community garden and learned the Italian way of life as quickly as the language barrier would allow. He has since returned to Melbourne to share his passion for edible plants by podcasting and writing as The Hungry Gardener.
