Born in Bangor, Pennsylvania, in 1932, Norma Peterson moved to Philadelphia in the 1950s where she landed her first writing job, composing captions for the Saturday Evening Post. She became a freelance writer for magazines such as Redbook, McCalls, Ladies' Home Journal, Parade, and Reader's Digest. She co-authored two humor books: The Unofficial Mother's Handbook and The Unofficial Cat Lover's Handbook. She died in 1997.
