Judith Tabler grew up a few miles from Theodore Roosevelt's house, Sagamore Hill, in Oyster Bay, New York. She often walked the grounds and visited the Pet Cemetery, where Skip is buried. She is a member of the Theodore Roosevelt Association and has lectured on Roosevelt family life on Long Island. She has written books, picture books, and magazine articles - many about dogs and horses. She now lives outside Washington, DC with her husband and three terriers.
