Caryn Hartman was born and raised in Colorado and she loves going into the mountains to recharge her soul. Her first children's book, Dorje the Yak, won the Nautilus Book Award. Caryn received her MA from the University of Virginia and a degree in teaching from the University of Colorado. She has been a teacher in Denver Public Schools for ten years. Caryn lives in Denver with her two boys, husband, dog, and a cat who thinks she's a dog. If she's not on a road trip with her family, you'll find her hiking (preferably above 12,000 feet).
